Trauma doesn't always look like a single dramatic event. It can be the accumulation of difficult experiences; childhood adversity, loss, abuse, neglect, medical trauma, or ongoing stress, that shapes how we see ourselves, others, and the world. When left unaddressed, trauma often shows up as anxiety, depression, hypervigilance, difficulty trusting others, or a persistent sense of unease that's hard to explain.

Living with a chronic health condition. whether it's chronic pain, diabetes, autoimmune disease, cardiovascular illness, cancer, transplants, or any long-term diagnosis, affects far more than just the body. The emotional toll of managing an ongoing condition is real, and it often goes unaddressed in traditional medical care. Anxiety about symptoms, grief over lost abilities or routines, frustration with an unpredictable body, and the exhaustion of navigating a healthcare system can all take a significant psychological toll.

Life transitions, even positive ones, can bring significant emotional upheaval. Whether it's a career change, divorce, becoming a parent, retirement, relocation, loss of a loved one, addiction recovery, or reentry after incarceration, major transitions disrupt routine, identity, and a sense of control. What looks like "just change" from the outside can feel destabilizing, overwhelming, or even grief-inducing from the inside.
